World Magic Awards. The World Magic Awards is a live two-hour television award show to be held at the Hollywood Palladium on September 16th at 6pm. It stars the best magicians from around the world who each will perform their own award-winning category. The black-tie event, referred to as the Academy Awards of Magic. The World Magic Awards will be awarded in twelve categories. Eleven Awards will be for the performer or performers considered by the committee to be the best in their category. The Blackstone Award will be presented to the person or persons judged to have contributed the most towards the performance, the preservation and the promotion of the art of magic around the world. The show will be a fast-paced entertainment, performance-oriented special. A celebrity will present each winning act with their award. Segments of the show have already been shot in many locations around the world, including Egypt where Franz Harary disappeared the Sphinx for over two minutes in front of a live audience, hosted by film star Roger Moore. Segments have already been taped in England and Las Vegas.Brothers Lost: Stories Of 9/11. This event documentary, produced and directed by award-winning filmmaker Sean McGinley examines the grief, hope and emotions of 31 men who lost brothers in the attack on the Twin Towers on September 11th 2001. The inspiration for the documentary came from the fact that Sean lost one of his own brothers, Mark, in the World Trade Centre that day. The interviews are with the brothers of a wide cross section of men who met their untimely end that day. Some were very successful stockbrokers, some firemen and some in food service at Windows on the World restaurant. Even after 3 years has elapsed, the pain is still all too real and many of the brothers felt making this film was both a tribute to their lost sibling and in some ways helped to deal with their continuing sense of loss. These men invite us into their homes and open their hearts. The events of that dreadful day are recounted and interspersed with loving memories from childhood and growing up together, shared experiences now cut short. Many of the interviews were arranged through Stephanie Zessos, a Ground Zero volunteer who worked from a tent set up nearby to provide sustenance for the firemen at the site.
