It began with the many fertility cults of the ancient world, and in the temples of ancient India. The existence of various nomadic groups of professional entertainers, and groups specifically identified with Gypsies, provided for the cross-culturalization and transmission of these dances. Although regional variations have always existed, the popularity of what is commonly known as 'oriental dance' or 'belly dance' continues in this ancient dance despite cultural and moral prejudices is a tribute to the appeal it has to the human spirit as the women (and) men who dance today do so for very practical reasons: because it is enjoyable, it is excellent. In other words, for fun, fitness and friendship. Hilary Thacker is a renowned professional Egyptian-style 'belly dancer' performing and teaching throughout the UK and Middle East and for use in the privacy of your own home will instruct you on how to master basic moves involved in belly dancing including the camel and Egyptian walks, snaky arms and shimmies, and finishes with a section on dancing with the veil. The Exploited - Live At The Palm Grove 1983 - 87, at Woolworths Edinburgh, early 1980, an Ex squaddie Wattie Buchan begins to create a monster. Four disillusioned angry young men decide to make their feelings known in a big way; enter The Exploited, a band whose notoriety is only matched by the Sex Pistols. For the next 25 years The Exploited blaze a trail of punk rock mayhem across the world. To say singer Wattie doesn't mince his words is an understatement, his tell-it-like-it-is attitude is responsible for more than it's fare share of confrontation and controversy. Yet the band goes from strength to strength eventually becoming one of the most influential names of second wave punk. From sell out gigs at London's prestigious Lyceum to that infamous appearance on Top of The Pops, The Exploited never sold anyone short. They were, and still are, always full-on aggressive. Numerous line-up changes haven't dampened their spirit and today Wattie Buchan can still regard himself as punk rock royalty. 'Live at the Palm Cove' is classic stuff featuring the classic line up. Shot in Bradford, England 7 April 1983 this is really The Exploited at their purest, full of rage, raw and virtually out of control. '1983-87' shows the absolute staying power of the band featuring footage from Carlisle City Hall in 1983, Los Angeles Olympic Auditorium in 1984 and Nottingham Mardi Gras in 1987. Previously released as separate video programmes this DVD is an ideal introduction to one of Punk Rocks brightest lights. For Exploited fans it is simply a must-have. PUNK's NOT DEAD! Reefer Madness, at Woolworths Reefer Madness: Originally made in 1936 and financed by a small church group as a cautionary tale entitled Tell Your Children, this film was acquired by notorious exploitation producer and director Dwain Esper (who can forget such classics as Maniac, You Conform Or Die!, How To Take A Bath And How To Undress In Front Of Your Husband?) who added numerous salacious insert shots and changed the title to something a little racier in Reefer Madness. Esper's other claim to fame came with his method of distribution: he would breeze into town, hire a tent or cinema for a couple of days and charge people to watch his film and move on swiftly before the authorities could catch up with him (none of his films had a rating, which meant the content could be anything Esper wanted it to be - his film caught the imagination of the paying public because they were supposed to be 'educated documentaries'). Reefer Madness acquired cult status in the 1970s among American college students, who ignored the supposed implications of smoking marijuana and turned the film into a comedy, laughing at all the wrong bits and marvelling at the wonderfully awful acting. It has retained that cult status ever since. World Steam - Eastern Europe, at Woolworths World Steam is a lively survey of today's preservation of yesterday's steam engine heritage. I Am The Law Dirty Dancing [20th Anniversary Edition], at Woolworths The timeless, Oscar winning classic is a phenomenally popular coming-of-age tale which is loved by generations. Teenager Baby (Jennifer Grey), goes with her family on vacation to Kellerman's holiday resort in the Catskill's Mountains. Things are pretty tame until she meets Johnny (Patrick Swayze), a dance teacher at the resort who mesmerizes Baby with his dance moves, his passion and his misunderstood 'bad boy' image. During that summer of 1963, Johnny teaches Baby how to dance. And more importantly how to love. Seduction: Three Tales From The Inner Sanctum, at Woolworths In a similar vein to the Twilight Zone series Victoria Principal stars in three tales of obsessive love through the ages, portraying three different women who find that there is a price to pay when passion, desire and love are taken to the extreme. In Fallguy, a professional blame-taker steps in to accept responsibility for a rigged television contest, only to find himself seduced into a deadly love triangle. In Sacrifice For Love artistic passion takes a new shape when a brilliant artist bears the scars of a brutal childhood. Only his loving wife can unlock the pain, but in doing so she uncovers a deadly obsession. In The Two Of Us Kenneth Porter when he's not studying the stock quotes on his computer engaged in an innocent computer correspondence that soon becomes an obsessive and erotic affair with someone he know only as Silk'n Satin. Usher - The Glamorous Life, at Woolworth Having sold more records than any other artist over the past 18 months, Usher Raymond has now established himself as both a modern colossus of Urban black music and a visionary artist bursting with invention, soul and attitude. Since getting signed at 14, he has not only dominated the R 'n' B charts, but has also crossed over into the mainstream Pop arena. By working with such luminaries as Jam and Lewis, Lil' Kim and Pharrell Williams he has carved out a niche for himself as the definitive R 'n' B crooner of the day. In addition, he has built a promising movie career, honed his skills as a live performer and grabbed the headlines with extreme publicity stunts. His music is majestically soulful, achingly emotional and deeply hypnotic, appealing to the body, the heart and the mind. Hailed as the new Fred Astaire, this remarkable artist has cut tracks that not only stand alongside those by the all time heavyweights of Soul, but also redefine the sound of modern Urban music. Usher: The Glamorous Life tells the complete story of this child prodigy who has grown into one of the most talented R 'n' B singers the world has ever known. This documentary is an absolute must for his millions of fans across the globe. The complete and unauthorised biography of Usher.
